Distributed fibre sensing
Turning installed cable into a continuous seismic, acoustic and thermal instrument — detecting an excavator near the route before the blade reaches the duct.
Spectral efficiency
C+L band expansion and higher-order modulation on existing glass. The cheapest new capacity is the capacity already buried.
Autonomous operations
Alarm correlation and failure prediction from optical telemetry, so that a degrading span is scheduled rather than escalated.
Quantum-safe transport
Preparing the physical layer for key distribution and post-quantum encryption over dedicated strands.
Field laboratory
A live 60-kilometre test span outside the capital, instrumented end to end. Nothing reaches the national network until it has spent a winter there.
